My friend Ruthie told me a long time ago that I should blog about topics in swimming and lifesaving. I don’t really know what to write about. I can’t imagine people want to read about the things I find interesting. We professional lifeguards are a very small group. If the job were all that thrilling or valued, I presume more people would do it. But I guess because people like water and the refreshment it provides on a blisteringly hot and oppressively humid St. Louis summer day, and many have pools in their backyards, I can offer some advice and things to consider. So here is where I will share some of my own experiences, and wax philosophical on the importance of swimming and water safety in my life, and hopefully in yours.
